How to Make Fried Mushroom Marinara
- Remove stems from mushrooms, wash and pat dry with a clean cloth.
- Add 2 inches of oil to your pan and heat to about 350 degrees.
- Pre-heat the oven to 350 degrees.
- Place flour, cornstarch, baking powder, salt, garlic powder, and black pepper in a mixing bowl. Stir until all dry ingredients are evenly blended throughout.
- Add 1 ½ cups of water to your dry ingredients to create your batter.
- Using a fork, coat each mushroom in the batter evenly. Allow excess batter to drip off.
- In a separate bowl, coat the mushrooms in Panko breadcrumbs.
- Carefully add the mushrooms to the hot oil using kitchen tongs. Allow the mushrooms to cook for approximately 2-4 mins or until they become golden brown and crispy
- Remove the mushrooms from the oil and place gently onto a paper towel lined plate.
- Pour Pirro’s Marinara Sauce into baking dish.
- Add a thin layer of Mozzarella and Parmesan cheese on the sauce, then place the mushrooms on top.
- Add the remainder of the Mozzarella and the Parmesan cheeses over the dish.
- Place dish in the oven and bake for 5-10mins. Enough to heat the sauce and melt your cheese.
- Remove dish and let sit for 3 mins.
- Buon Appetito!
